The Battle of Barton Hills was dreamed up by an anonymous Speakeasy Sunday runner with a perverted fantasy of putting on a bootleg race in the mysterious village known as Barton Hills.
For centuries, Barton Hills has been sacred training ground for local runners in search of endurance nirvana. Strava segment leaderboards on Underdown and Barton Shore have legendary names like Zach Ornelas, Erin Finn, Nick Willis, Anna Nagelhout, and Hobbs Kessler. These rolling hills are rich in Treetown lore.
Entry is free, and timing will be done by Bandit Races volunteers, using a stopwatch, popsicle sticks, and the honor system.
Photos and results will be posted Sunday afternoon on the Bandit Races website.
Our only request is that you share this link with runners who “get it” and can keep this a secret from NIMBYs until race day.
See you May 15.
