In Their Own Words…
Origin Story:
I'm a little hazy on the details, but about 12 years ago, Marie Wolfgram-Morgan started a fitness business. The business side tailed off, but the running group she formed with her husband Rob continued to grow and became known for helping members qualify and prepare for a certain annual race in the Boston area.
After many winters of leading multiple weekly group runs, Rob and Marie high-tailed it to Los Angeles. After the polar vortices of 2014 and 2015, who can blame them? Enter Colleen Stone and Paul Livingstone, East Coast transplants who had caught the Boston Marathon bug and wanted to continue the spirit of the club. We joined when it was headquartered in a basement next to Afternoon Delight, picking up where Marie and Rob left off.
The rest is history... we've had hundreds of people run with us off and on over the years.
What Makes Your Club Unique?
We are a distance running club that loves the marathon. Even when we race half marathons that's often just part of the training for a full. PR is sort of the Subaru of run clubs--with the exception of a couple of months early in the pandemic, we've been there for our runners all year long, no matter the conditions, so they can get group support during whatever training plan is in play. That said, we also do fun things, and the club is quite social.
When / Where Do You Meet?
We meet at the Brehm Mansion at 326 E. Liberty, across from the west side Argus Farm Stop. It's our clubhouse. You can count on a Tuesday run at 6:30 p.m., and a Saturday run at 8 a.m. (7:30 during the summer). We also have runs on Wednesdays at 6 a.m. (meeting at Pioneer High School), interval workouts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and an easy, slow recovery run on Sundays at 8 a.m. (9 a.m. in winter).
